Terms of Use

Arrel is a tool for recording and understanding your own money. It is not a bank, an accountant, or an adviser.
1. Who provides Arrel
Arrel is provided by Luis Cárdenas ("we", "us"), working as an individual, NIF 54860063A. Our postal address is available on request at support@arrel.app. By downloading or using Arrel you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Licence
You get a personal, non-transferable licence to use Arrel on devices you own or control, in line with the App Store Terms of Service. Apple's Standard End User Licence Agreement applies except where these terms say otherwise. You may not resell the app, or attempt to extract its source or bundled data for redistribution.
3. Arrel is not financial advice
This is the most important clause here, so it is not buried.
Everything Arrel shows — balances, net worth, budgets, analytics, cash-flow forecasts and any future automated summaries — is information about data you entered, presented for your own use. None of it is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and none of it is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything.
Decisions you make with your money are yours. Speak to a qualified professional before acting on anything you see in the app.
Said in the vocabulary of the places Arrel is sold: we are not a bank, a payment institution, a broker or dealer, an investment adviser, a tax preparer, a credit-repair service or a money transmitter, and we are not registered as any of those with any authority in any country. Arrel holds no money and moves none. Nothing in it is an offer or solicitation to buy or sell any security or other asset, anywhere.
4. Accuracy, and the limits of it
Arrel computes from what you record. If a transaction is missing, mistyped or miscategorised, every figure derived from it will be wrong, and the app has no way to know.
Two specific limits worth stating plainly:
- Forecasts are commitments, not predictions. The cash-flow forecast projects only payments already scheduled. It does not guess at future spending, and it cannot know about anything you have not told it.
- Investment cost basis uses the average-cost method. This matches the rules in several European countries, but not all of them — some jurisdictions, including Germany, require first-in-first-out for securities. Arrel's gain and loss figures are for your own understanding and are not a tax calculation. Do not file on them.
Exchange rates and any market data shown are indicative and may be delayed or inaccurate. They are not a dealing price.
5. Subscriptions
- Arrel is free to use. An optional Premium subscription unlocks additional features, offered monthly or annually.
- The annual plan may include a free introductory trial period. Its length and the price you'll be charged afterwards are shown on the purchase screen before you buy. Introductory offers are typically limited to once per Apple Account. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, payment begins automatically.
- Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy, and differ between countries because Apple sets each country's price tier and collects any tax due there. The price you see on the purchase screen is the price you pay.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings at any time.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store Terms of Service, not by us. We cannot issue refunds directly.
If a subscription lapses, your data is untouched. Features above the free tier stop being available, but nothing you recorded is deleted, and no account or portfolio is removed.
6. Accounts
An Arrel account is optional — the app works fully without one. If you create one, keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@arrel.app if you think someone else has access to it.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account and every record we hold for it are erased, with no grace period and no recovery. The copy on your device is untouched. Two things outlive the account: entries you've written into a tracker you share with others, see Shared trackers below; and the record that a subscription was bought through Apple, stripped of your name, your email and your records, which is what lets you recover a subscription you already paid for if you sign up again. Deleting your Arrel account does not cancel a subscription — only Apple can do that, from your Apple Account settings.
We may suspend or close an account that is being used to attack the service or break the law.
7. Shared trackers
A tracker is normally yours alone. Sharing one — a trip, a house move — with people you invite means Arrel now holds their name and what they choose to write there too, not just yours.
If you share a tracker, you're responsible for who you invite. Everything written into it — descriptions, amounts, currency, and who wrote each entry — is visible to every other member. Your own linked transaction and which account or currency you were actually charged in stay private even inside a shared tracker; no other member sees them.
If you own a shared tracker and delete your account, the tracker freezes for everyone: no more invites, removals or edits, though existing members keep using their own entries. There is currently no way to transfer ownership or reverse this. Leaving, being removed, or deleting your account otherwise keeps your entries — so other members' totals don't change — but removes your name from them.
Trackers are never searchable or discoverable. The only way to join one is an invite from an existing member.
8. Your data is your responsibility
Arrel keeps your data on your device. If you sign in, we also hold a copy so your devices stay in step — but that is a convenience, not a backup service. We do not promise to recover anything for you, and if you delete your account the copy is gone.
If you never sign in, we hold no copy at all: lose, wipe or replace your device without a backup and that data is gone.
Either way, export your data regularly. Settings → Export Data produces CSV files, free of charge and without a subscription.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use Arrel to break the law, and do not attempt to interfere with the app's security, reverse-engineer it beyond what applicable law permits, or misuse the support channel.
10. Availability and changes
We may update Arrel, change features, or stop offering it. Where a change materially reduces what a paid subscription provides, we will say so before it takes effect.
11. Liability
Arrel is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for financial loss, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, including decisions taken on the basis of figures it displayed.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
12. Where you are
Arrel is operated from Spain and offered wherever the App Store offers it. You are responsible for whether using it is lawful where you are; we make no claim that the app is appropriate or available in any particular country, and supporting a country's currency is not a statement about its law.
These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. If you are a consumer, that does not take anything away from you: you keep every mandatory protection of the consumer law where you live, and you may bring proceedings in your own courts. In the European Union and the EEA that is guaranteed by law; outside it, we give it to you as a term of this agreement rather than argue about it.
