My data isn’t on my other device
Sync needs an account, and both devices have to be signed in to the same one. Check Settings on each — if one of them isn’t signed in, that is usually the whole answer.
Once both are, sync runs on its own; you don’t have to start it. It does need a connection, so a device that has been offline catches up the next time it isn’t. Settings → Sync shows when it last succeeded, and offers a Sync Now if you want to nudge it.
Everything you recorded before signing in is kept. Signing in adds sync — it never replaces what is already on the device.
I bought Premium and Arrel still says free
Settings → Premium → Restore Purchases. That re-checks your purchase with the App Store, and it is the fix nearly every time.
Purchases follow the Apple Account that bought them, not your Arrel account. If this device is signed in to a different Apple Account, that is the thing to look at first.
If it still says free, write in from Settings → Support. The details that mail attaches include what Arrel thinks your entitlement is, which is normally what answers it.
How do I cancel, or get a refund?
Both belong to Apple rather than to us. Manage or cancel a subscription at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions — that is also where you cancel the 7-day trial before it renews into the annual plan.
Refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue one ourselves: Apple takes the payment, so Apple makes that decision.
Cancelling deletes nothing. You return to the free limits and every record you have made stays exactly as it is.
The confirmation email never arrived
Check your spam folder first, then ask again from Settings — the row that mentions your unconfirmed address has a Send Confirmation Link button.
The part worth knowing: confirming your address gates nothing. Sync, Premium and everything else work identically whether you confirm or not. It only means we can reach you if you ever need to reset your password.
I forgot my password
Use Forgot Password? on the sign-in screen. We will mail you a link that lets you choose a new one.
One consequence catches people out: setting a new password signs out every device, including the one you are holding. Sign back in with the new password afterwards — nothing is lost, it just has to be done once per device.
How do I get my data out?
Settings → Export Data produces a full CSV export of everything you have recorded. It is free, with or without a subscription, and it always will be.
It goes the other way too: Arrel imports a CSV statement from your bank, so a month you have already got in a file doesn’t have to be typed in again.
How do I delete my account, or my data?
These are two separate things, and Arrel keeps them separate on purpose. Both live in Settings → Data & Privacy.
Delete Account permanently deletes your Arrel account and what the server holds for it. What is on this device stays until you erase it separately.
Erase All Data removes every account, transaction, investment and budget stored on this device. It cannot be undone, so export first if you want to keep any of it.
Because Arrel works without an account, deleting the account does not delete the app’s data on your device — and erasing the device’s data does not delete your account.
I lost my phone, or I reinstalled Arrel
If you were signed in, sign in again on the new device and your data comes back down from the server.
If you weren’t, there is nothing on our side to restore from — that is the other half of local-first. Your data lives in your device backup, in iCloud or on a computer, and restoring that backup is what brings it back. Worth knowing before you need it rather than after.
